December 17-21, 2012
We came, we saw, we SURVIVED the ending of the Mayan calendar! There was a magical vibe among the crowd and the bands capture the essence perfectly. With sets from Umphrey’s McGee, the Disco Biscuits, STS9, Brothers Past, Break Science, Digital Tape Machine, Up Until Now, and Lionze, the theme was set and the bands played along.
The Disco Biscuits played “Above the Waves” while fans danced in the ocean. During their set on 12/21/12, Umphrey’s McGee appropriately broke into R.E.M.'s "It's the End of the World As We Know It" and the crowd lost it! STS9, who has based a lot of their career around the Mayan Calendar, had tribal dancers on stage and their entire 12/21/12 set was extremely mystical.
On the last full day of the Mayan calendar, STS9 led a huge expedition to the Mayan ruins in Tulum and it was an incredibly spiritual experience for the band members and the fans alike. Other memorable activities included the salsa-off hosted by Jake Cinninger, poker tournament with Jeffree Lerner and David Murphy, and tennis tournament with Kris Meyers and Brendan Bayliss.
